I baught my L reg corsa gsi 10 months ago and i havent had a problem since untill now, the engines nackered. The cambelt broke and therefore you all know the rest everythings bent to F**k and its basically non fixable (not worth the cost). But a mechanic friend of mine asked me when the cambelt was last changed (changed on 7/6/02 £26.99) wich was just before i baught it from a "vauxhall specialist" called Motormaxd ( www.Motormaxd.co.uk). He reckons that all cambelts fitted by a garage have milleage guarantee or some form of guarantee, is this true and the biggest question DOES IT MAKE THEM liable?? I have the cambelt at the local garage for proof and the nackered engine. Any advice would be excellent as im totally gutted, cheers!!!!!!!

they should have garuntee but you will have to prove the belt was faulty or they fitted it or handled it wrong

are the pistons damaged?
If its just bent valves then its not that expensive.
I would go and kick off, can but try....

If it was a genuine vauxhall cambelt and the belt failed (not the pullies/tensioner) then u have 12 months parts warranty on the belt - and any consiquencial damaged caused by that failure !!!!

new belts are about £25.
You can buy a complete engine for about £400, so a complete head cant be that much, then about £120 labour, and about £100 parts (head gasket, cam belt etc)
Without damaged pistons its not uneconomical to repair. Unless you leave it to a vaux dealership........
Valves are only about £15 each....unlikely they will all be bent........

a genuine vaux cambelt for a c20xe cost me 25 quid plus vat and a non genuine exhaust valve 33 quid plus vat so its not that cheap to repair.

I think those exhaust valves are sodium filled and so are more expensive than these ones.
Im sure I paid £14 each for them.
Get them from autovaux, they are a fair bit cheaper than vaux.
