I know that it's possible to use your own router with Sky broadband, but as it's against their TOS has anyone ever got a bollocking from Sky for doing so?
I quite like my Netgear router, it's probably the best one I've ever owned and I used it with our previous provider (O2). I just know from past experience with Sky routers (or Netgear routers with Sky firmware) that they tend to be a bit shit...

They don't chase up on it, just wont support you if you say its your own. I'm using my trusty dg834g

On my router I can change it's MAC address - so if I used the MAC address of the Sky router on my own then presumably they would see it as 'theirs' being used or could there be some other way of them checking apart from the MAC address?
Not arsed about support as let's face it, it ain't great at the best of times anyway!

They have access to their own routers and wouldn't have access to yours so would know. No point spoofing the mac, just generate the username and password.

I've been using a non Sky router with Sky BB for as long as I've been a customer which is years now.

I used one for ages too. Just had to use some user&pass generator iirc

Well I'll probably use their router for the first 10 days during the 'training' period then use my one afterwards.
Can any of you lot use the Anytime+ with your own routers out of interest?

Anytime+ is complete rubbish, no better than anytime which was also crap.
Not really any reason to use their router for training period.

IIRC there is a way to pass a telnet command (or maybe a http command) to get it to produce a username and password.
