Cracks on B pillar (where pillar joins rear wing behind door) on 3dr Corsa B is an MOT fail point. If you are friendly with your local Vauxhall dealer possible that Vauxhall may cover all/some of the cost as it's a known fault. Think you need metal welding in to reinforce the area.

I've heard of people having the work done FOC but it depends on the car and dealer. If it never sees a dealer and is heavily modded then they might not be so keen. I'd try it first and see how you get on.

Mine never failed MOT...the guy never even looked inside my car. Its a council place so I had to do all the light/brake tests while I was in the car

Not sure on the use of a strut brace - it may make the problem worse. One of the things about the Corsa B is that the chassis/body is not very stiff at the front. This is why (much though I liked mine) they don't corner as well as they could. You can stiffen the front end (for example with a strut brace) but then this can alter the stresses in the body shell and you could make the b-pillar cracking more likely. The stiffer the car is (lowered, stiffer suspension etc) and the more grip/performance you give (engine mods, fatter wheels & tyres) then the greater the chance of a problem. It's like anything though, you'll get heavily modified cars that never give a problem and others that are bog standard with cracked pillars. It's your choice.

It only fails the MOT unless its cracked up to a certan degree, eg Cracked up to the rear window rubber.
Strut brace wont do much, same with aintroll bars, as i have them all on my car, and still cracks. This only helps the body to stop flexing up or down either end/side of the car. The cracks are due to the car panning opposite direction front and rear. The only solution is a roll cage.
