I have my router in the hallway and want to increase the wifi signal in our extension. If I plug 1 of these things into my router and then another in our extension........does it ACTUALLY increase wifi signal or just an extra connection for a RJ45 cable? I Need wifi for my new TV but a RJ45 connection for my new stereo amplifier. Help?

Or.........If I connect 1 of these plugs to my setup and then install a router with RJ45 connections, can I then connect my wifi router to the Stereo amp (therefore enabling airplay) and then the wifi will work as well in the new room?

I have something similar to this

and I have a cable coming out of my router that goes into this (I plug it into the mains socket) then in my annexe I have another plug and on that plug it has its own wifi aerial and a socket where I can put my RJ45 cable in.
Im guessing what you posted is similar?
With mine it doesnt extend the wifi signal from the router, it creates its own access point.

yeh makes own access point 
as TV needs wifi (Or RJ45 cable) and my amp defo needs RJ45 connection....
So I should buy 1? good price isnt it!

Yeah, mine works really good. I need it because my router is on the other side of the house and the walls are so thick the wifi doesnt reach lol.
I have my ps3 plugged into the plug via cable and my PC connects to it via wifi, its worth getting

That one has a free wireless extender, it doesn't specify what it is but it'll probably achieve the same thing.

John, I have a spare netgear router to boost the wifi signal........so couldnt I do the following........?
1 of them adaptors connected to my router in hallway
1 of them adaptors in extension
Spare Netgear router that connects to the Pioneer amp VIA RJ45
Therefore, a wifi access point is also present so my TV, iphone etc can connect to it?!
Am I right?

The neatgear router would need to support bridge mode I believe.

That would work Munchie, doesn't have to support bridged mode, just turn off dhcp on that router.

80mbps should be ok for most uses yes, will be better than wifi anyway.

I was told that it did need bridged mode by a member of staff in a store, so can the router receive a signal via wi-fi and also transmit via wi-fi?
I may fire up one of my old routers then for extra signal

That's different from what munchie is trying to do, he's just using the router as a wireless access point, it's connected back to the main router via ethernet and the homeplugs.

My devolo extender is decent, only problem with it is if you keep it on for very long periods of time it does tend to overheat alot and i have to switch it off for 20 minutes or so to cool down
