Got a barred 1, put a network sim card into it to activate it and it wont activate because its barred?!
Anyway around this to just use the phone as a gaming/wifi machine?!

Yes, jailbreak with Redsn0w, its tethered though.

Not quite, you have to plug it in and hit 'boot' in Redsnow or it will just get stuck on the apple logo.
Infact I think its semi tethered now meaning you can boot it but dont have access to everything.
