im trying to remove one of my front springs. i have taken it off the car, compressed the spring, undone the top mount bolt, the top of the top mount come straight off but the part where the spring sits will not budge. can anyone help with this

You mean the top spring cup? If so start undoing the spring clamps slowley and it should push it off the shock.

have you un-done the centre nut?
you'll need an allen key and ring spanner...
I use an air gun, but thats cheating lol.
Once that nut is removed there shouldnt be anything holding the spring to the shock

Ive undone the nut, the top part where the two bolts go in the engine came off but the rest hasnt moved an inch

have you taken the spring clamps off totally??
if yes and its still on there, replace spring clamps, its time to get the hammer out as theres nothing that should be holding the spring on.

Hammers been on it still not budging, am i right in thinking its completed fucked

as said, nothing should be holding it on now.

Looks fine, just tried the other shock and it came off fine, took me one minute, going to get some better spring clamps got mine from screwfix direct and didnt hold the tension too well, think my fingers broken

are they standard shocks? dont be shy give i a clout but be careful were its facing cos it will shoot off with some pressure

Just learnt that the hard way, the part thats stuck seems to be the bit above the spring seat, underneath the top mount (the one you bolt to the engine bay area)
