PCIex16 slot BLUE maximum rated wattage 35W.
ATI FirePro 2450 maximum consumption 32W.
PCIex16 wired as x4 BLACK maximum rated wattage 25W.
ATI FirePro 2270 maximum consumption 15W.
Total combined on the 3.3/5v lines is 90W
Should work according to that but this dickhead is telling me I'm wrong
Surely if the slot can handle 35W and I put 32 that is fine and if the other one can handle 25W and I put in 15 that is also fine.
Hope I've not missed anything

He's wrong but not sure why it's not working.
Something to do with not knowing which card to use as default?
You getting any diag code when turn it on?

That's what I thought, doesn't even give any video at all.
That guy is talking shit, right?
I've just replied - I'm on pre-approve on my messages because I called the computer a piece of crap - to say that if you maxed out the first slot at 35W you would then have three other slots that were useless?
Doesn't seem right to me plus it leaves 100W+ unaccounted for, PSU is 250W which should be able to supply that quoted power to each slot all the time notwithstanding what is already plugged in.

Your calculations are definitely correct.
He's the sort of guy that responds to every post with the spec page and that's why people think he's helpful.
There should be 1234 LED's somewhere on the PC, they should be doing something if it turns on at all, might point towards what it thinks is wrong.

Get lights on the 2450, not sure there are any on the other card.
Fan spins up but no drive seek I can hear.
Same symptom as a RAID controller I also had to take back, computer just doesn't like having cards installed.
Although these work on their own, in those slots. Just not together.

On the front of the box to the left of the USB ports you should have 1234 LEDS.
What do they do when it turns on?

So presumably the first lot are not important and 1234 means its OK to proceed - it just doesn't?

It cycles through them then goes to 1234 then off.
1234 means hand off to boot, so doesn't help at all.
Think it might just be that motherboard just not working with 2 graphics cards.
Guessing you've tried various combinations of monitors plugged in 1 at a time?

Yeah the two cards work perfectly separately, it's all fine until you want them both.
Just been on the phone to Dell who don't know what the problem is and want to sell me an XPS for £1200 which still might not work but it says multiple monitors in the brochure.
They also won't take it back because it's been too long.
Need to decide now whether to sell the whole thing complete or change the board and see if that helps.
Wonder whether I would get £350 back off selling it complete, i5 2400 3.1Ghz. 4Gb 1333MHz DDR3, 320Gb SATA III drive.
Then I need to buy most of it all again in a different case.

Its Scratch and Dent which probably means that July order was the first customer.
It's under warranty just not faulty, just doesn't work with two cards.
