Hmm, i'd open it up and check the keyboard/mousepad connector first, disconnect it and wipe it down and reconnect. If that doesn't work then something might be frazzled

It'll be easy! There's probably a guide online. I've opened up MacBook pros which are probably harder.

Just clean up all the spillage inside and put it back together.

Keyboard:

trackpad (mouse) connector is right next to it.

this vid might be better:

Don't need to take it all apart, just get to the connectors and wipe/dry them. If that doesn't work then get it repaired, but might save some money trying.

Replaced the keyboard on my Dell XPS M1330 a while back because I spilled a can of beer while drink-driving round the internet. If you can replace a fuse in a plug, then you ought to be able to do a keyboard. No trackpad experience, but I'd image it to be similarly simple.

Trackpads are more involved, normally have to strip quite a lot more down.

Things working on one boot and not the next suggests the motherboard is currently being eaten away by whatever was spilt on it, full strip down and inspection required imo.

Keyboard and trackpad connections probably need a clean - but as John of Scotland says, it needs a full strip down and inspection first.

I doubt you would find any PC repair place that would take it apart for you for free (I certainly wouldn't as laptops can be time consuming to strip).

£70 is quite reasonable if that includes VAT, I'd ask them whether they'd deduct that amount off your repair bill if they can fix it for you though.

cleaning the contacts doesn't require a full strip down (as the vids I posted show).

Yes but when liquid is spilt on the keyboard it's best to check all of it in case of liquid ingress to other parts of the motherboard for example, not just where the keyboard and trackpad wires plug into.

At least you now know how to take it apart

Did you unplug the connectors for the keyboard and trackpad? Any luck (I'm guessing not)

Probably needs some new parts
