Done a Google but can't really find a proper solution/answer to the problem and don't fancy paying someone to come out to it if its a simple fix.
Basically over the course of every couple of days its gradually filling itself with what seems to be just clear, fresh cold water.
I can't see any filters that could be cleaned etc, usually they have a small flap on the front you can open.
Its a hotpoint washer dryer.

I have that same one and it does the same, and I've not worked it out either.
The water flow is controlled by a solenoid though, I would guess under mains pressure it's not man enough to stop any ingress.

Thing is its only started doing it the last couple of months, had it about 2 years. Maybe the solenoid has weakened over time. I've had the top off, reckon its something you could replace yourself?

Solenoid will be an easy job to replace id say.
First take off the pipe after the solenoid and see if water leaks out of solenoid. If it does, change it, if not, then fuck knows

Just been to my stock of hotpoint solenoid, and they do fail shut.
Do you have the pressure regulator installed?
Your hot and cold water pressure must be in the range Max.
1Mpa (10 bar) and Min. 0.05Mpa (0.5 bar). Incorrect pressures
could lead to flooding. (page 8)

Whats the pressure regulator, should this have come separately?
All we got was hjust one hose that splits and connects to the hot and cold on the back of the machine and connects to the cold under the sink.
Can't see the images at work so I'll check later at home.

I don't think its failed, just doesn't fully close. Mine is still operational.
Would be very surprised if your mains water is outside that range.

if power is off and it still fills it 100% solenoid. Could be faulty tank level sensor , solenoids go all the time and piece of piss job to swop. All are universal so don't go paying Electrolux prices . This part is about £8+vat , the level sensor will most likely be a genuine part

We have powered it off at the wall and it still fills. Tbf it fills very slowly just worried about when we go away and stuff but can always turn the water off at that point. I'll get a solenoid off eBay and have a crack at fitting it this weekend, doesn't look too difficult.

To make your life easier if you get a large flat driver, pop the magnet off the valve and swop just the magnet . The majority of the time its not the valve . Even if yours is a twin valve a single will do if your replacing the lot , if not I'd imagine only one side will of failed . Either way it's easy job .

Plus they will take more pressure than any standard pressure I've put pump inline on commercial machines , don't worry about pressure if it's too high it will knock

dirt on the plunger of the inlet solenoid valve... some of them you can take apart and clean some just need replacing... get the make and model number of the inlet and google it to see who stocks them.
