Could someone confirm please, will I need to take out the battery to be able to have access to the coolant sensor?

Temp or level? Different sensors I think.

Looks like it although is there also intake piping around there? Might get away with just doing that.

Removing the battery will give you a bit of space but not loads, depends how the tray is mounted.
