Thought i'd share my new car / project to the cs users
On thursday i made a trip halfway to bristol to swap my corsa sport for a nova saloon, i met up with Mrsmith off here and after a good look over both of the cars we where happy to do a straight swap, i got it home and started work on her straight away.
35k genuine mileage
12 months mot
6 months tax
The first thing was to rip the stereo out and re-wire the full thing as it was bodjed to hell with random wires all over, it took me 3 hours and lots of soldering later it worked perfect.
I've found a few problems such as the grab handle is broken, the sunvisor clips are broken and the interior is very very tatty.
I went to scunthorpe today to pick up some original nova gte wheels with excellent tyres for a bargain of £70 to replace the steel wheels currently on the car.
I've started to take the interior out and replace the seats with rover metro gta seats, i thought it would be a simple job but obviously it wasnt, i will be buying lots of box section and cracking out the welder tomorrow to see what i can come up with :thumb:
A few pictures of how she stood, and how she stands at the moment
( please note that is my old man in the picture and not me lol )

Lots more pictures, as said before i went and picked up a few parts from novarally, also just found out that my battery is knackered so that will have to be replaced ( bloody weather )
I managed to fit the nova hatchback rear seats with abit of modification ( few brackets ) whilst welding the brackets on i didnt realise i had some panel wipe behind me that went up in flames only damaged the top bit of the seat which is now covered up with a towel, my own fault but could have been alot worse especially if our mk2 escort went up in flames ( eek )

I finally gave her a quick wash as i had a spare 15 minutes today, i managed to get hold of a rear number plate backing but unsure weather to fit or not.
I have took some pictures or the worst bits i've found on the car ( 1st time i've had a good luck )
There is a before and after of me cleaning the sun visor with abit of white spirit, cant believe how dirty it was.
Fitted some honda civic washer jets
Photo of my scrap pile for the day, took a fiat punto gearbox off to do the clutch to find the gearbox had a hole in it hence why the clutch was slipping.

I have decided to scrap the X14XE idea and sold the engine to someone else, i just bought an astra gls ( 1995 ) with an 1.6 8v mpi fitted it has cambelt failure but i was planning a full strip down and a rebuild no matter what engine i got. managed to get the full car for £140, will take the engine, loom , ecu and everything else i will need and scrap the car

After fixing the mg zr, i sold it within 3 hours of having it listed and made a nice tidy £400 profit which will be spent on the nova, i took the engine out of the astra and got a few pics along the way. i filled it with a bit of scrap i had lying around and weighed it in for £141, still have the alloys forsale so the engine will work out to be free which is a bonus

Started stripping the engine down, and gave the pistons a clean, lots of photos before and after.
Weirdly enough the cambelt has snapped but i dont think the valves are bent as they are all firmly closed,
i will remove them and check them with the "roll" method and see what happens.
I've just bought a new cordless drill with some wire brush attatchements to get at all of the rust on the block.
