Basically we rent part of an old house, and there is 4 flats in the house. The landlord pays the electric bill and we each have a meter off this and buy electric cards of him/the estate agents 10miles round trip away. (A fucking twat to do this but thats for another day)
We noticed that we are paying 30ppu peak and 15ppu off peak. Thought nothing of it untill this evening when speaking to another letting agent who said they can only charge Cost + 5%
Looking around and we have been getting charged around 2/3 times cost price and not + 5%....
Is this info correct? Or is it bull shit so we move in with his landlord?

If you have an individual meter i'd be looking at having it swapped out for a non pre-payment meter, ask the electric supplier for details. They may ask for a deposit to be held on account but it's worth doing - check with the landlord first though!

Cant put it in as would mean having a to have part of the house re wired for separate feeds off the mains

We used to live in a flat in Birmingham years ago, like in your case it was an old house converted into flats.
Our electric meter was in someone else's flat needless to say we only stayed there 6 months and moved into a place afterwards (house) where we had access to our own meter.
Sounds to me like your landlord probably just has the one electric bill and has some kind of meter retro fitted into each flat rather than doing it the proper way so that each tenant can manage their own electric.
Seriously - find somewhere else to live. Sounds dodgy as fuck!

As sam says. That's what I do . But that can't be done with tokens ? I just tell them how much they owe and then they pay. Nothing should need rewiring as it should only feed YOUR flat

Sounds like there is one supply coming into the whole building (metered by your local DNO) Your landlord gets one big bill for all the flats, but he has had individual meters fitted to each supply to each flat from the DNO meter so he can work out how much you owe him.
He should only really be charging you cost plus maybe a small fee
