Trying to fix a car for a friend of mine, its a 1.6 16valve Meganne, every time she starts it up it dies about 5 seconds later unless she gives it gas. Haven't got the EML on or nothing so theres no fault codes. Seems to do it worse when cold but does it sometimes when hot?

Was wondering if its a common fault with them and is there a way to cure it?
