I currently have Mac OS X 10.7.5 Lion. Mountain Lion 10.8.2 is available from the app store for £13.99. The reviews are mixed with quite a few saying it has messed up their computers, things not working, software becoming unstable.
Is it worth upgrading for £14 and is it really full of bugs?
I'm still new to Macs but £14 compared to the £40 upgrade from W7 to W8 seems a steel?

Tbh it's the same as any OS upgrade.
Given the tens (hundreds?) of thousands who upgrade you can't expect 100% of them to go swimmingly.
You'll never hear of the ones that went well, only the ones that didnt.
For £14 it's well worth the jump. Apple have priced it well and made it extremely easy for the public to upgrade.
It's a no brainer

There's a few nifty features that I'd hate to live without now, iMessages being one of them, so I'd say go for it.
Certainly do not experience it as being buggy.

Oh a minor thing. The standard dock indicator, that shows which apps are open can be hard to see.
I made a replacement that you can find here:

I downloaded and installed last night. Aside from the fact it took about 6 hours to download and install all in, everything seems fine.
Safari seems a bit quicker too, not sure if it is the time of day or because of he update.

Brand new but came with Lion.
Wasn't bought through Apple though. Bought through EDF.

I'll have to scan my invoice and see if they accept it.
The way it was purchased is a bit odd!

Having iMessage on here is very useful. A lot quicker than trying to send from my phone!

You can drag photos directly from a folder or browser in to a conversation as well. Nifty little feature.
AirPlay mirroring is another cool addition, if you've got an Apple TV.
