Am I right in thinking all 3 need to be swopped over when changeing a ECU?

Or can just change the ECU on its own so long as,the chip and transponder are from the same car?

Reason I ask is a friend has two keys/chips and a transponder (from the same car) but has missed placed his ECU after rebuilding his engine

You can get it all recoded but that'll cost around 130 quid, can pick up a new set for around 50

Yeah there's loads in my local scrap yards but they tent to just bin the keys or lose them when striping the car.
