Been announced today that Nokia are to sell all devices and services to microsoft for €5.44 Billion.
End of Nokia?

could be a good thing i have the lumia 800 and it could of been a good phone if they had spent more time on it

Copy the competitors, market it as brand new and price it high enough to appear to be a premium product when all the poor people get it on contract anyway? Sounds like a good plan.

It's not the end of Nokia, as they've got finger in other pies.
As for Nokia branded phones, currently it appears that Microsoft has a 10 year lease on the 'Lumia' name; whether this includes using the Nokia name seems to be a bit up in the air from the few articles (The Verge reported it as the end, others has said otherwise) i was reading at lunch - anyone know if this changed?

I can see this only as a good thing for MS in building up the WP brand, especially as they've managed to grab Nokia (mobile) for reasonably little money.


LeeM - I'll be surprised if MS will stop licensing their OS to other manufactures and become a one-stop-shop like Apple. I suspect it'll continue as it does now with the exception that MS now has more control over hardware-side of WP.
