Been a while since I updated this; anyway after a long time I finally finished the grouting lastnight so thought I would take some snaps today. The pelmitts are still missing on the tops due to Howdens cocking up again and again but should pick the last part up for that tomorrow.

Thats lovely.
I quite like the floor lights you can get, but they need to give a warm glow rather than led cool white style.

Theres not much point in any cosmetic things around the home, apart from looking nice.
The ones dom posted are exactly what I like. Nice warm strip of light. Not at all keen on the ones that make your home look like its covered in xenon lights.

Just looks like the back bar of a nightclub. I like lights under the wall units but plinth lights look naff.

Most of the diffusers, i've seen, fit on extrusions (think that's what they're called; extrusion fits to surface, led strip slides inside and the diffuser fits on top) so it can become costly - £10-20/m without the led strip.
And light tape looks pretty decent but it just seems limited in colours, seems to be mostly fluorescent colours - although i haven't really looked into it tbh.
Certainly diffused light is the way to go if you are going to do plinth lighting, otherwise it just looks half-arsed to me, eg - this, this or this (visible individual diodes in surfaces).

Each to their own. Although i certainly agree it doesn't suit every kitchen, especially small kitchens (used in large kitchen it works), and can look extremely tacky if using 'wacky' colours, eg - this.
I think if it's done well then it's a good way of adding soft ambient lighting to a room that's usually filled with harsh lighting - main spots or under wall unit.

In my kitchen I have a 2 gang switch, one does the 10 LED downlighters and the other does the under cabinet lights and the plinth lights. When just diving in the kitchen quickly I just whip the plinth switch and it lights up enough to see 
Done it for most of customers kitchens I've done the electrics for and had nothing but praise.

The units and worktops were I think about £6K; they were more expensive due to the curved units as they add quite a few £££'s!

I did think about doing them but in the end ran out of time to get the wiring in place and also wasnt that bothered as the spot lights are really quite bright and they are the only lights in the room and when they are on I dont think you would notice them; and when they arent on we arent in there

Used light tape in a few signage projects and it's not nearly bright enough to serve as a light source.
As for LED strips, they most definitely need to be diffused or you'll get light spots on the floor, which looks horrible.

You can get RGB and RGBW LED tape, that gives you 16,777,216 colours with the right controller.
