Good evening,
Is anyone aware of any sort of open source sonos software?
I have a mini NUC PC hooked up to my AV amp and would love to install something on there to act as a Sonos receiver to save paying £250 for the proper receiver!

I've done an install all using LMS with the same result

I have an existing Sonos 'eco system' of a couple zones (speakers). I would like the option of bringing the AV/HiFi into that.
Can I ask what the LMS stuff is?

If you have existing Sonos gear then you are stuck 
LMS = Logitech Media Server. Free way of doing Sonos basically, can use Raspberry Pi's with DAC's ect

I used to be into messing about with stuff like that but Sonos just works. Worth paying the money not to be pissing about with RPi's.
Dad has a logitech radio that can use the media server bit but Sonos is better.

We've got sonos throughout out house and as John says it just works. Well worth the money for the amount of use it gets. Got the sonos connect wired up to the AV amp and sounds very good for streamed music

I never understood the pricing on the Sonos stuff.
The Connect is £250, yet you can get a Play:1 for £150, which has a built in Connect as well as a speaker and amp.
What am I missing?

You're not missing anything. They are great designers and marketers; of course it doesn't cost £270 to make the receiver part. They price the Play:1 nice and low to get people hooked. Then people will pay the inflated rates as they want the other kit!
I might just have to spend the £270
