I have a layer 2 switch with untagged VLANs for DHCP i plug in a USB Hub that has a network port but the hub wont get network connectivity yet if i plug in a hub after the wall port and then into the USB Hub i get an IP address..


Any ideas?

What switch? I've had a similar issue where the switch was assigning a card into an 'auto-voip' VLAN

so if you use the structured cabling you get an IP address but if you go direct to switch you get nothing?

does the above setup go into the same switch?

Fixed it the docking stations didnt duplex correctly. Manually set the duplex and they work.

Shitty cabling here!

Its not normal CAT5 here they use 4 strands for Network so max is 100mb and the another 2 for the phone old analog system and then they have a spare 2

Was cheaper for them 15 years ago
