I saw it with my own eyes though. She tried to open a folder which her photo's were stored in and after a minute of it trying to load the folder's contents, we gave up.

I would accept up to about 10 seconds of waiting tume, but other a minute indicates there's something wrong, surely?

Agreed, a minute to show the contents of a folder isn't about hardware performance. Something's broken.

This or any other bloatware is all I can think of as the reason for your issue. Short of failed hardware, that is.

Is the performance different between running from battery or with the charger plugged in?

I'm not sure tbh. It was plugged in to the mains.

There probably is a ton of hp crap on it that doesn't need to be running.

Sounds like you need to clean it up of the preinstalled hp junk and get it working properly. Loads of guides online - http://www.maximumpc.com/how-to-make-windows-10-faster/

Also have you just dumped a shit ton of data onto the hard drive ?

She had put a load of photo's onto it, but she said it was running slowly before that. Women, eh!

I've heard turning off indexing can help as well particularly in windows 8.1 and 10 on slow disks, never bothered as nowadays everything I come into contact with is SSD so not a problem

I'll try that if they don't play ball with the return. I haven't looked at it in depth as she was moaning about it so much about it's retardedness that I could not be bothered with it all.

Good luck after having to return something to eBuyer before... I shall never be using that company again. Stuck in the dark ages!

Thought I'd update this as it's only fair to ebuyer.

After going through a massive Ballache of a returning system, I finally got a refund authorised after they inspected it and indeed found it was faulty.

Had to ring hp, get an authorisation for return, then had to send them an invoice, then wait for them to reply, then wait in all day for the courier.

Bit shit really, but next time I'll buy instore, rather than online.

Went and bought a new gen i5 hp from curry's that was on offer. Even got a £20 discount

They are even worse for returns if it goes wrong so better hope it doesn't.

Basically they say anything that goes wrong with it is down to customer misuse

Pretty much the same experience of mine... but even when I sent my back (monitor from ASUS) they didn't believe me even though the engineer had diagnosed it over the phone! Had to send photographs I luckily took before sending it in.

Compare that experience to returns on Amazon and it's a wonder these other companies still exist.
