Some would probably say the same if they were good at tiling/plastering and someone was going to pay someone to perform these tasks.

Not too bothered about my grass, but it doesn't look fantastic. I just give it a really short cut so as to not look proper ropey with the amount of weeds coming through.

Tiling is somewhat skilled work.

Cleaning the house, and watering the grass is not

I suppose that is subjective.. If you want a bowling green for a garden and a clinically clean house its hard fucking work..

It's not as simple as watering the grass.

Tiling isnt a skill. I did my entire onsuite in a weekend. I'd have a cleaner tomorrow but the misses dont want a stranger cleaning the house

I put some Resolva Weed but not Lawn Killer on the several dandelions that have sprouted. Will see what happens.

Even doing that for 10 minutes makes James grass company more appealing.

Some progress. No Haimsey effort yet though. Still pretty patchy.

It killed my grass when I used that

Ellis, nice work, it's coming along nicely.

Well it's killing the weeds off and grass has survived lol. I was quite careful with it though and just sprayed it on the leaves like it said

I seem to have my weeds issue under control but the grass has taken a turn for the worse. On one side I have normal fine blade grass but on the other I have big patches of wide blade grass which looks dreadful if I'm honest; it grows faster than the rest too

The previous owners seeded a large area of the garden in early Spring last year but it's a bit sparse so I'm trying to thicken it up. I used some seed and feed to try and fill in some patches but all it's done is improve the grass that's already there as opposed to adding to the thin patches. Think it's a bit late now to starting seeding from scratch so that'll probably have to wait until next Spring now.

Similar-ish problem here. The feed & weed stuff has improved the already good grass but not killed the weeds or helped the weaker areas.

Reading up for my grass/garden project for this year. Want it looking good.

Thinking scarifly mid late march (southern England should be ok), then chuck a weed/feed down and mow. Then overseed any bare or sparse patches mid late April.

Love gardening

My garden looks terrible at the moment. Full of weeds!

I've had a so called gardener look after the grass for the past 5 years. There is a story behind that...

Suggestions on how to bring it back as cheap as possible?

The Green Thumb franchise stuff gets really bad reviews our way on, I think it's luck of the draw whether they're any good or not.

I put a bit of work into my lawns last year, front of house is north facing and gets mossed up like mad so that was the bulk of the effort - got the rear looking pretty nice.

I didn't scarify or anything - I just jabbed both lawns with a fork for a few hours and then put down some generic weed/feed stuff from the garden centre. It wasn't branded, just in a sack.

Purchased a lawn mover which arrived this morning. Waiting for a strimmer to arrive. All low end bosch kit with a couple of years warranty. I'll get some before and after photos.

I've no budget really for the garden this year. There's a post that needs replacing and bits of fence i've been meaning to replace since moving in. I think i'm going to get stabbing with a fork, pull out loads of weeds and seed.

I started treating the garden back in 2019 but did very little last year apart from the 2 weekly cuts.

Got someone this year to do 6 treatments and have to say even after treatment 1 the grass looks a lot greener and thicker.
