Hi All,

Finally fitted my V6 brakes today. Got a mechanic mate of mine to do it for me. All went really smoothly - disks fitted fine, rear hoses were a pain to fit though, and had to bleed it twice to remove all spongyness.

The result? Amazingly responsive breaks, no spongyness (just as before but better braking), an emergency stop that made my feel fly off the floor when I was the passenger! and they look huge!!

Theres about 1cm gap between my calipers and my alloys (I doubt very much you can get these on 15" soft stars) and there ONLY 2MM gap between the caliper and the alloy spokes - a very snug fit to say the least!!

Tell me what you think. Forgot my Digi Cam so took these on my phone and sent via MMS. I'll take pics tomorrow in the day if i get the chance.

Love them already. they've got a heck of a lot of stopping power. the brakings smoother as m old disks were slightly warped, so for £60 more than standard disk replacement ive got the V6 kit inc pads, calipers and disks.

Looking good Mav, my Hispec 285mm setup should be here by Friday, coupled with braided hoses and Mintex 1144 pads should see me good. Hope they look tight under my dished 16's and I hope they fit!! LOL

Its a lot lot better braking yeah.

My mate drove it around the block where we got it fitted. Broke a few times, I was thrown forwards into the seat belt, left the seat, hands gripping the crash bar, feet off the floor - its incredible.

Brakes are more responsive when you touch them, feel more confident, and theres a heck of a lot of stopping power if you ever should need it.

Its basically enough to stop a 2.5 litre V6 Vectra but on a smaller, lighter Corsa. Well worth the money - and £60 more than just new standard disks was well worth it

Wow PAul yours look an even tighter fit than mine!

I painted my calipers silver - the rear drums are black but I thought I may as well - for £4 for the hammerite and a few minutes with the brush while I waited for my mate to fit me in

I expect those disks must shred the pads quite fast though?

My only worrys brake dust - seems to pile up so fast on the alloys.

The discs at the mo are warped to fek, too much heavy braking over the last 12 months, but they don't really shred the pads much! Theres still about 6-8mm left on them both!

Are your wheels 16's?? Mine are only 15's, so there the bare minimum size they will fit under & there 284mm discs

Your right though, the stopping power is awesome! but the only problem I have is the master cylinder is a little bit too small for them, so i need to press the peddle down about a quarter way before its really effective!

BTW I'm also running GreenStuff pads, and there isn't that much dust produced at all!

wont fit a corsa c, you will need to get some from the 1.8 corsa or maybe the ones from the late mk4 astras will fit, ie the turbo, but dont quote me on that.

Im bedding mine in as we speak, but once fitted we had to check they worked and weren't spongy or anything.

Mine aren't spongy at all btw.

Only two points of not really:

1) the rear hoses were a pain in the ass to change - had to take the brake bias spring off and free up some space on the right.

2) the disk retaining screw that holds the disk onto the hub without the wheel didn't fit snug - the hole or it on the V6 disk was not countersunk so it sat raised. this was unlike the countersunk standard disk. The screw therefore was left off as the wheels hold it on ok and it won't fall off even with no wheel.

Broster yeah yours are incredibly tight! I was worried with 16"s on - Id have had kittens on anything less!

Mine was £200 from V tuning, with £45 hoses from PVD.

Well worth the money if you ask me, and the brake pedal is no different from standard - only more responsive
