if you mean a 16v about 115mph on the flat.
but the last bit from like 100 to 115 would take ages to get there!

melville, you have a burberry cap and washer jet neons yes? You were doing no more than 100mph, maybe 105 on a very steep hill. the book figure is 96mph, and on the flat, this is what you will get. So bollocks to you. Did you also know that the top speed of a corsa 1.2 8v is in 4th gear, since the 5th is an overdrive gear.

1.2 8v - top speed u will ever see on the clocks = 105mph in 4th on a hill. Anything over this is absolute crap coz the box ratios just wont allow it.
If u see anything else on the dials, then your speedo is very out (common on the pre 97 cable operated dash)

The Speedo is not linear, meaning that its not a certain percentage out all the way up, usually the faster you go the more innaccurate it is, and after the legal limit there are no parameters. Like the old Astra GTE 16v, at 30 mph you were doing 29 mph, at 50 mph you were doing 47, but at 135 the speedo was reading 155. Do the maths.
I know cos I had one and I read the autocar test where they use an accurate speed reading and compare it to the speedo.
When I was at school kids used to come up to me and tell me their Dads Cortina did 140mph, cos it had 140 on the clock.

My speedo must be accurate at 46 mph, 'cost it read that as the speed camera flashed. The NIP letter had the same speed

I was doing 110 down the M62 years ago in my Nova SR and I got stopped for doing 99. That meets the 10% rule almost.

I tested my 1.2 8v corsa which was on 16"s (195/45/16s), using my dad's work GPS (he was in car with me).
It had 5 satalites (which is strong + improves accuracy)
At 50mph, i was actually doin 48
At 60mph, i was doin 57
At 70mph, i was doin 66.
I guess that at 100mph, i'd actually be doin 95mph
The most fairest test however, wud have been doin the same 3 runs, but with my 165/80/13's on

its simple, on a flat surface with ideal conditions the car will not exceed 100mph.
