Hi, quick question here....
I wish to re-new the induction piping on my D Turbo 306.
This must run all the way from the air filter, to the turbo inlet.
I've been thinking about materials, and have come to the choice of either Aluminium or Plastic (almost like drainpipe stuff)........... I want it straight for as far as possible, and i'm going to use Samco for the bends/connectors etc
Basically, what should i go for?
I know aluminium is obviously better, but i cant find any suppliers, and stuff i have seen is through the roof prices!! Any1 got any ideas on this?
ANY IDEAS/SUGGESTIONS/COMMENTS on this. cheers!!
Matt
PS: reason for this, is current piping looks messy, untidy, broken brackets, starting to split.

i would use anything that wont melt where is connects the the turbo, i expect even the inlet side gets hot, or is the heat pretty much kept on the exhaust side???,

Yeah, the current stuff is all plastic/rubber combination, so i know plastic would do the job.
Pain in the arse on the 306 TD, is the turbo is well tucked away
oh well, scraped hands is it!
Any more suggestions? Wot u reckon Kris? Know any where that does alu tubing??

What you want is smooth curves as much as possible, you don't want it straight and then a nasty sharp corner!

Hmmm.......pretty tricky tho coz the pipe has to come up vertically from the air box, then towards the back of the engine, then down into the turbo.
I dont know how i could get the piping so smooth......coz of the corners it needs to go round!

find out the measurements and then get your alu tubing and take it to an exhaust place and ask them to mandrel(sp?) bend it into shape or even use stainless steel exhaust pipe?

can you not just get sum thin alu sheeting and seam weld it into the certain size you want
just have to go careful or use a special welder/heat setting so it doesnt just burn straight through
