my mate has just brought a Corsa B Sri 16v N reg but hit seems to have some problems
. the speedo dosent work
. petrol guage doesnt work
.car always stalls when he is braking to a stop(with clutch down or in neureral
.has no pull off power( i have same car but hes one semms to be alot slower!
. the milage doesnt go around ( so dont know excatly how many miles its does says around 67k but who knows
what could be rong with hes been told it could be ICV
i would not have berought the car in that condition has anyone got any opions on this please!

c if dash has been taken out and not refitted correctly. if electronic speedo check the fuse. check 12v fuse for dash

yeah i would NOT have brought it with no speedo and the stalling(whateva that is ) the thing is he paid 2200

IMO he has been severly bumped by ther dealer but does anyone reclon that the ICV is gone cause it keeps stalling and droppes revs all the time My car i like a compleatly different car to drive and i have the same car WHAT HAS HE DONE buying it like that

if he got it from a dealer i suggest he takes it straight back and gets his money back so he can buy a decent car, i know the idle control valve aint a biggy to fix but sounds like a shitter so best get rid now IMO

whats the average price to supply and fitt a ICV or is it worth just cleaning it

its my mates car just on here to see what people think. Now ill tell him to take it back ASAP!!! but he still wants to know how much the ICV is to replace

its not huge to fix and probably doesnt even need replacing just cleaning but thats not the point...do a search on icv as there will be heaps of threads about it!!

speedo not working at the odometer are related i think
if it's disconnected at the back of the dial or the gearbox (?) then it wont add any mileage either.

icv are quite dear to buy i think, but you should get away with just cleaning it

petrol gauge could be a fuse ?

If he had given me a few hundred quid more he could of had my GSI which has none of these problems

Probably his entire speedo head / sensor. Causes car to cut out etc.

i offered him my old corsa SRi 16v (pics in garage) which he new had no probs, maintained regardless of cost, oil changed every 3K for £1200 and he didn't take it, the mad fooker went out and bought the heap his got now

some people makes you wonder what they have in their heads

ah well should have brought m4tt's car like i told him to hope he sorts it out and gets the car runnig well again as the bodywork and interior of car are imaculate thanks for the posts lads
