i was just wondering what would be faster and in what way from the following....
2litre turbo corsa
vs
2litre corsa
vs
2litre throttle body corsa
vs
2litre Civic type R
wat would be faster saying they are all standard? and
wat would be faster saying they are all fairly but equally modded?

My 2.0 with about 175-180 bhp has trouble getting power down off the line, well I am running 15's which doesnt help, and am working on a Corsa C 2.0 litre, as reckon that chassis handles the power better anyway.
Off the line a type R gets ahead, but on a dual carriageway I can pull past, same with a 172 and stuff, the VTS my mate has gets me to about 60 mph, I just cant get the power down, backing off gives him a mega lead, but I catch him up. Once moving it obliterates 106 gti's, VTS and gets a lead on the 172 and Type R.

mines
2lt TB (alot off power with can be controled and all they way threw the revs)
2lt Turbo (just spins up all the time so hard to get power down)
Civic and 2lt
(BUT if it was best out of 5 up the 1/4 i would go from civic)
the Type R and the 2lt are not far off each other on this, so about the same i would recon. they seam to pull away abit more as they rev more but when there revs drop 2lt corsa cartches up, so very very even race

Fit an ATB LSD to the 2ltr TB and remove the battery to the boot (and as much weight as possible).
Fit big brakes and rear discs. Fit a good suspension setup+Antiroll bars and presto, you will kill a Type R

Stuyw, spec is , 2.0 16v, C20XE, bp270 road cams, unichip, k&n cone filter, cold air ducts, some other stuff, about 170 -180 bhp flywheel. Could be more, I didn't do the engine. I know std engines can range from 148 - 160 bhp unmodified.
I know someone with a wilder spec in a Nova with twin webers and bp285 rally cams, has trouble getting all the power down its about 200 bhp.
What spec is yours ?

I upset some guy in a 172 he was throwing his arms about, every time he tried to stop he going past I pulled past him and when he stopped beside me, I beckoned him to wind his window down, and said his car was not very fast if a 1.4 Corsa beat him. He just said, 'fuckoff'

The 2.0 red top in the Astra and Cav was quick enough, the issue with a Corsa is traction, and also the weight at the front end.
You can re-locate the battery to the boot, and remove some bits and bobs to offset the extra 75 kg or whatever it is. People say the 1600 is a better bet and you can get the same perfoamance, but at a cost, if I was prepared to spend the money to build a TB'd Corsa to outhandle and put outpace a good 2.0. I'd not even bother with a Corsa I'd buy a Lotus Elise with the money.

I debate this extra weight.
I have a 1.4 sport + aircon and it nearly weighs a ton *apparently.
Ive heard that 2l corsas are around the same wieght as sports with air con. Plus if your susp. and roll bars etc are all uprated this shouldnt be too much of a problem.

i stress the above is what i have learnt and not fact.
Also agreed the batt can be re-located to the boot. for extra kilo's saved, i think adam d has done this succsesfully.

The other point is that if you are willing to chuck mega bucks at a Corsa just to make a 1600 quick to save on the weight of a 2.0. u might as well me looking for other cars which handle better anway, like a Saxo for example.

a lot of people try to do go faster mods when they can tune the engine to a decent spec with the resources they already have, its very overlooked IMO
