my mrs 1.6 16v is making abit of a rattley, tapping noise from somewhere
when ur at the top of the engine sounds like its coming from there and when u jack it up sounds like its near the middle somewhere undernieth cant locate it
she does not rag it and its a w-reg with 37000 miles on so should not expect many problems
also when u leave it idling the noise goes but soon as u drive it about it comes back, and the noise speeds up only to about 3000-3500 rpm then u cant hear it
any suggestions

Sounds like somethings lose, maybe interfering with the cambelt if its coming from middle/engine way.

take it to a garage and get them to check the water pump.may be on its way out.is it like a rubbing rattly noise?increases with the rpms then dissapears after 3500 rpms?

water pump or cambelt tensioner/roller, get it checked ASAP,
more likely to be the rollers or tensioners
get some metal rollers in there if they need changing, they last much longer.

corsa godfather thats about right, although its more rattly than rubbing and ticking
yeh she is gonna get it looked at asap

i allready told you what it will be mate,
have you had the cambelt and rollers etc. checked out?
check all that before looking for more answers
