im lookin at this amp to power a 12" type R alpine sub, only it says its a 4 channel and the description is a bit vague, the link is:- http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/acatalog/MCS_DIRECT_Amplifiers_49.html and the specs are:-

#V12, 4/3/ 2/ch, 4 x 100w or 2 x 250w Max. so I was thinkin it shud do the job nicely?

why not use a alpine mono, the ones that were designed for those subs....

MRD- M300 or MRD-M500.

Also is your type R dual 4 or 2 ohm as this affects amp choice.

i have the same sub to (two of) and am lookin for a new amp... would i need two mono amps to run these?? they're the 2ohm ones

wat do you mean by 2 ohm ones, if its a 1241D then the MRP-M350 will be fine, if its a 1221D then you need to wire the 2 together, and use a single bigger mono block to power both, i.e. MRD-M501...

yeh there 1021d (10") so how do i wire them together?? to run off a mono block?

As they r 21's it means u have 2 x 2 ohm coils, which can be wired to either 4 or 1 ohm.

this means u CANT easily use 2 smal monos, u will neeed a single MRD-M501 really to have a chance of poweringthem.

Then u wire it so that the single amp powers both subbs and is shown a 2 ohm load.

basically u need to wire each subs coils in series, then wire the 2 subs to the amp in p[arallel, this will show the amp a 2 ohm load.
