I'm pretty sure I have a faulty CAS on my lump. Its a very early 98 Corsa that has the old 8v pre ecotec engine in it. What is the model number of this engine? X12NZ?
Also... theres a few Novas down the scrappers that have a very similar looking engine in. The block is identical as far as i can see and it is a 1200. The most noticeable difference is the old style dizzy (not the DIS pack found on my motor). What is the model number of this engine?
And, most importantly, would the CAS from the engines in the Novas work on my lump?
Cheers in anticipation

I certainly do as long as you're reasonably sure it works. How old/many miles has the lump done that it's from?

they redesigned the crank angle sensor with a black plastic cap, so it doesn't corrode on later cars... just a thought

When the weather is persistantly damp the engine misfires really badly. I've changed the DIS pack, leads and plugs and checked all the connections that are easy to get at.
My hunch is that the casing of the cas gets damp and the electromagnet cannot count the teeth on the pulley - causing it to misfire because it's injecting fuel based on wrong readings of the revs.
What also leads me to believe this is the problem is much greater when there is a change in revs (i.e. changing gear or giving it a boot). And further, I'm getting an ECU error 19 which is the cas (and 64 which is cylinders 2 and 4 are incorrect voltage.)
Adam-D - how much do you want? It looks like an easy swap... correct?

It is an easy swap, they are held in with one bolt and come straight out...
