I did the same. Very easy if you have the tools and knowhow.
We managed it in a day and finished all of it off the next...

So ecu remains the same? realise mounts, exhaust and the mechanical bits are the same, but wasn't sure on wiring and ECU?

We had to change the loom and ecu cos the 1.4 was distributorless so a little different. If they were both dis then probably could use the old loom. Not hard taking the loom out though.

wouldn't think it would be worth it if you had to pay someone to do it...

try it yourself lad... its only a few nuts and bolts and a couple of wires....

i'd probably do something like this for about £30 & a few beers

really isn't that hard a job, both blocks are near-identical, so all mounting points are the same...

unless your a posh bastard with PAS & A/C as some 1.2's & 1.4's came with it.

just as going from 1.28v to 1.48v

you need engine, loom, ecu, mounts from donor engine, f13 'box if going from 1.2SPi to 1.4 MPi...

only other consideration if you do change the gearbox is make sure its same sort of drive as one you have in (speedo connector that is), or there is more work to be done!
