For XE conversion im told i should get some new ones, which ones do i get, for Astra GTE or just regualr corsa ones?

depends what shafts ya got, if ya using GTE shafts ya use GTE inners and Corsa outers, but ya have to machine the hubs to take the corsa bearings, or if ya got specific shafts for the job they should take corsa inners and outers

You should get new bearings for the hubs as you need them when you put the hubs in.... If your talking about wheel bearings.

Im gonna be using GTE shafts, and machined hubs. Yes sorry i mean wheel bearings.

you will need to get corsa bearings pressed onto the GTE machined hubs then

part numbers are all the same on Autovaux so ill just get a set.

apparently vauxhall ones are stronger but id go for the cheapest as u will be replacing one very soon anyway

how much bigger are the gte shafts than required?

long one about 4mm. short one about 26mm

and i take its not as simple as pullin out the angle grinder and loppin 26mm off

anythin other that can be done other than buy the Propper kit to remedy this?

cheers Lee, will probably use the machined hubs for a couple months (if they last that long) whilst saving for the propper stuff.

Don't drive hard with the machine hubs... I have heard they are pretty fragile. The bearings will go pretty quick also heard the differential can be damaged...

You could cut the shaft in half and weld it back togehter

I have the machined hubs and they are fine, been fine since March, so what you hear is a different thing.

I've heard that when you machine material off of a part that has been to take a certain ammount of stress and then apply more stress to that part it is more likely to break. Hang on, thats a basic design principle...
