my mum has a problem with her corsa! she is getting about 10 miles to the gallon

the garage have replaced lamba sensor and temp sensor and neither have worked, now they are saying the ecu is shagged?? we were under the impression there was no ecu as its a carb engine

help please........

also if it does have an ecu and the ecu is shagged does anyone have one spare or know where i can get one cheap

They are single point injection, which is different to carbed, and will have an ecu.

I have a spare ecu from my 1.2 spi Nova which might be the same.

Is the car getting hot? Maybe if the thermostat had failed open then the car wouldn't be getting up to temp and so would be effectively on 'choke' longer. What sort of driving does she do?

Funny you should say that, garage mentioned something about it running cold. She only ever does little journeys - less than 10 miles at a time

So do we think a thermostat or ecu is cack then?

I didn't think ECU's forget how to work - I would have thought they would just die and the engine wouldn't start. I would say its a sensor, like the thermostat...

But would the thermostat sticking make the car over rev (yes it does this too) and run like a bag of shite?

Anything done to the car before it started to happen?

Worth trying to reset ecu?

If its running cold then it wont help, i've no idea how hard it is to change the thermostat on those engines, but they are only cheap.

Well they have fitted lamba sensor and temp sensor and I doubt very much they have reset the ecu so I guess worth giving that a go before trying anything else. Then if not go for the thermostat as will be cheaper than ecu.....still be nice to know if anyone has an ecu kicking about just incase(possibly already got one thanks to Miles)
