Few weeks ago I went out in car (hadn't been run for a few days) and it developed a bit of a misfire at low revs, cured itself after it got warm so I thought nothng of it.
Next time I come to use it it struggles to start, misses a bit then cuts out, struggles to start, idles then cuts out as soon as I apply throttle. Eventually fixed itself by getting the car pointing uphill (?) and letting it warm up.

Now its a real pig to start and when it eventually does there is a fair amount of smoke, kinda like a diesel with knackered glow plugs, and it misses for a bit but once it gets warm its fine again and can be left for a few hours and still starts fine.

Main question is what can be causing it to get damp all the time or is it something else (injector leakage etc).

Plugs and leads are both about 12months old, coil could be a fair bit older or damp could be getting into dizzy. All I can come up with so far.

Ok, now it doesn't start at all, I've had the plugs out and they are black so it's obviously over-fuelling.

Any ideas whats causing this? It was MOT'd just before xmas and passed emmisions. I've suspected it has been running rich for some time but the plugs have always been fine.

I have new plugs which I'll try when the battery charges, but need to solve the fuelling problem because if it does start it will just gunk these plugs up too.

Not to my knowledge, what other symptoms should I have if it's faulty?

Coolant system works fine, fan kicks in as it should etc.

Cheers, I'll try a new one seeing as they aren't much.

I'm guessing it's a Vaux/motor factors though so I won't get one this weekend.
