I havent owned a corsa before so i am not sure if what i am experiencing is normal. The engine pulls nice from idle till about 3000-3500 rpm where it quite noticibly hits a flat spot until about 4500 rpm when it takes back off right till redline. The car is making nice power above 4500 and feels quite strong other than the problem mentioned. It is quite anoying because at freeway speeds i am sitting right in the middle of that flat spot....meaning i have to drop back a gear if i need to get moving quickly. The plugs have recently been changed.
I would appreciate hearing everyones thoughts, Thanks alot.

Thanks for your reply mate. So you think the problem may be the larger exhaust, what could i do to cure this problem? And may i also ask why the exhaust would cause this problem?

is it 2 inch bore pipe all the way thru? the bore size moves the power about a bit , i.e larger bore = better gas flow, for top end but no back pressure for any low down power, thats on bikes, assume cars work similar

Is it a common trait of the X16XE to behave as described above?

Exhaust is fine, the 1.6 16v engines are just crap.
I said that all the time I owned mine and no-one would believe me

I've been experiencing this with my car aswell. When it went on the rolling road at a Vauxhall tuners it was very apparent that I had a flatspot around that rev range aswell and the guy that did it for me suggestted renewing HT leads, sparkplugs etc he didnt understand really why it was doing it mind so it could well be something else?

could check the timing, might be a tooth out making it run oddly in the midrange??

Vauxhall's OE HT leads are pretty much lifetime leads. Check everything else - filter, plugs, etc.

I'm not sure what you mean?? side effect, if the cam timing is out then the ecu will not cope very well.
Have you tried re-setting the ecu??
