Had my 1.6 16v at mechanic because engine temp travels between 90 - 100 never goes into red.
Not loosing water
Only oil leak is from sump though
mechanic tell me that he thinks it the head gasket although he did a test to see if any carbon oxide in engine and their was none car seem to run o.k power wise it is all good
Does anyone have any ideas on temp problem or what it could be

Thanks in advance

The thermostat, as that's what controls the water temp, a partial blockage of the rad, list goes on. Basically give the coolant and flush and replace it, and check the thermostat is workign correctly and springs open when you pour boiled water on to it in a mug, you may have to pour in and emoty a few times to warm it all up, handy if you have a thermometer too.

You take the thermostat, put it in a pan and pour in boilign water, it helps if you stick a thermometer in too, then heat the water up, the temperatures at which the thermostat shoudl start to open and is fully open are stamped on the base.
So by 92deg (normally) it shoudl be fully open.
The other thing is the sensor might be over reading a little.
Waht coolant mix is in there?? Is it 50/50 with antifreeze?
the more water in th emixture, the better the cooling effect.
I noticed you're out in aussie land, the hot days may just be putting a little extra strain on the cooling system.
