I'm not sure if this is the exhaust or not.
Happens most when going from 3rd to 4th but also when stepping on and off throttle.
Doesnt happen often either , just occasionaly.
Its a pop (not a backfire) and it slightly jolts the car 
Sorry for my vague description but any suggestions ?

sounds like unburnt fuel exiting the exhaust. this can be caused by an ignition fault or lack of back pressure in the exhaust

not sure what kind of pop or bang u meen but.....my cousins corsa b used 2 pop and it sounded like it was coming from around the air box

when i had a 1.6 with dodgy head gasket, it used to sound like popcorn cooking in my exhaust when running down hills off the throttle

Mine does it all the time mate, its just back pressure nothing to worry about
