I've noticed over the past couple of months that sometimes my car feels like it doesn't want to go. Sometimes when I put my foot down a bit in either 3rd or 4th gear it accelerates till about 4000rpm and then theres a definate jolt or judder and it wont rev any further. When I change up to the next gear it carries on like normal. This wasn't happening everytime.
Its started to become more frequent but the EML has never come on.
I've just been driving the car and its done the same as above but this time the EML came on until I changed up gear and it started accelerating fine again. Carried on driving as normal then decided to accelerate in 4th and see if it happened when I got to 4000rpm, and it did and the EML came on again. It always happens at the same rpm and only in 3rd and 4th gears.
I know the best thing to do and probably the only way to find out whats wrong is to have put on the Tech2 at Vauxhall but thought I'd get peoples thoughts first. It was at Vauxhall on the Tech2 about 3 months ago at the most and that time it was the ICV but it had different symptons to this.
Any ideas?

Cheers Rob. I'm going to get it put on the tech2 anyway but always like to have an idea of what it might be.
How much is an o2 sensor going to set me back

AFM or Idle Stepper motor.
Similar problem to mine, the AFM gave me problems only at trafic lights, car juddering etc.
The idle stepper motor was causing me problems, mainly wen i was just tickling the throttle in a 30 in 4th or 5th and the EML came on, car wanted to cut out etc.
Get it plugged in if you got a mate who can do it for you.

It does the juddering when setting off from traffic lights sometimes but the EML has never come on when its done it. I've learnt to live with the juddering at traffic lights because AFMs are stupid money and it only lasts a few seconds but not being able to go past 4k is fucking annoying when you want to put your foot down

Haven't sorted it out yet. Haven't needed to drive the car since Wednesday and wont need to again till next week. I'll wait till the EML starts to stay on before I do anything about it as would imagine it'll come back fine on the Tech2 if I take it in without the EML on? Either way it can wait till I have more coin.
Wheres the o2 sensor at? Is it worth giving it a quick clean?

its not the o2 sensor, as i had the same problem this time last year with my corsa. yes the tech 2 machine tells u its the o2 sensors but i can guarentee u that it wont solve ur problem.
this is gonna b a bit hard to explain but its the sensor thats inbetween ur air filter and the engine. i will try to find a pic of a 1.2 engine now and circle where the sensor is located.

I dont understand how you can say that its not the o2 sensor....And automatically know what it is when its not your car... everyone just automatically thinks its the AFM etc, my car ran like this couldnt accelerate till i changed gear, same as Matt's then i changed the o2 sensor and it worked again fine, so SMB

so I dont need to plant some dynamite in my engine bay then
I'll see what happens with the o2 sensor. might get a new afm thing next year as it tends to be quite jumpy at traffic lights etc. so if o2 sensor doesn't solve that part of it then I'll get a new afm too. For now I just want to be able to rev over 4000rpm
