31 = Crank Speed Sensor or Crank Position Sensor
Says its getting no signal which would explain the lack of spark as it needs this to know when to spark.
But the actual sensor is brand new, and the wires going to the ECU are fine. And the other wire is earthed so how can i not be getting a signal?
I'm slightly confused by this.
As always, any help much appreciated

you always get 31 unless you test with the engine running.
it means the sensor is getting no signal from the crank, which it wouldn't unless the engine was idling.

oh right! didn't realize that.
That means theres no faults then? or will it only pick up on a fault when the engines started?

it may tell you if sensors are unplugged or what not, but i think some of them may not even start to register untill the engine is fired.
this has been going on for time now mate. why don't you call out an auto electrician?
