I want to get a film that only seems to be on video or region 1 dvd, will i be able to play it on my computer still seeing that it wont work on playstation?

yes  either change the region on your PC of get some software the automatically changes the region.

"most" dvd drives on pcs can have the region changed 4 times before its locked, but you can firmware flash your drive and not have to worry about it ever again.
