Just bought my daughter a 1.0l 12v corsa GLS 'W' reg
She is finding it almost impossible to drive because the clutch is biting 1 inch from the floor , also the accelerator is very stiff. I have tried adjusting the clutch and the only way I can get it to bite at a decent height is to have the clutch pedal 2inches above the brake pedal , which is obviously not right. I have tried changing the cable in case it has stretched but no joy . Am I looking at a knackered clutch ??
Also when idling the car idles at 1600rpm !! I have adjusted the idle speed to about 1000rpm but as soon as the car gets a bit warm the sensors up it to 1600 rpm what is the likely cause of this ?

may be a worn clutch as i have mine adjusted so the clutch pedal is about 1cm above the brake pedal when at rest and it bites fine. All of this sdjustment was done using the clutch cable but if you have done this like you said its probably the clutch its self. The accelerator pedal in my car felt very stiff when i first got it compared to the car i passed my test in but i am now either used to it or it has losened up as i dont notice it although i dont drive any other cars so cant compare it.
Idleing problems could be due to the idle control valve been dirty or air sensors etc. Do a search on here and you will come accross a fair few topics on it good luck and i hope she gets on ok with the car

put it in 4th and try to pull away, if it stalls the clutch is fine, if it revs its knackered

Bugger me !!! (not literally) Replaced clutch cable and readjusted - result clutch is fine
Just got to sort out the idle problem now.
I notice in the Haynes manual for a lot of the sensors it says if replaced you will have to have them recalibrated at a vauxhall dealer - is this true or just Boll*** . If I disconnect the battery does the ECU on the corsa recalibrate anyway ?
Thanks

Never heard that a sensor needs recalibrating. Probably another way for vauxhall to make money by leaving your car in the corner for an hour.
