i have a 2 mb connection but wireless router which a few laptops in my house connect to , there fore i only get like 1 mbps if that on my desktop pc...
does that make sense?
is there a program that can filter out unessesary links to the internet which would result in a slightly faster pc ?
reason being is i edit on this pc and have to transfer large files from ftp (over 2 gbs )

pipex and all the companys they take over and ruin are being traffic shaped.
Just use clients that can encrypt whatever protocol your using.

im actually on aol.. which besidees all the hype and negitivity isnt all that bad when i am the only one on the net.. but still , is there a clean up application ? of any sort ?

is your wireless secured (WEP) or unsecured??
if unsecured, you sure your connection isn't being 'piggybacked' by someone else nextdoor/across the street??
