when its cold car starts funny and will sit at 500 revs then eventually jump to 1k, does this ALOT so not when its cold out side just when engine is cold.

it runs like a bag of shoot, pull out of junctions and it just bogs down, floor it in first and not much happens. i thought it was just the fact it was a 1.4 till i jumped in ma mrs tigra (x14xe) and was like fukin hell the corsa's fukked lol.

never had the engine management light come on or anyhting. it kinda back fires or mis fires during normal driving and it just generally feels slow. mrs tigra has it hands down every time.

dad said could be coil pack, anyone got any ideas?? only engine mods are K&N and cat back exhaust

**UPDATE**

this morning the engine management light came on and the revs died car cut out, its doing it every time i start the car, so at the moment i cant drive anywhere cos it just cuts out, any ideas??

unplug battery for 10mins.

change plugs, clean TB..... check leads... clean filter or re-fit airbox

basically just service it

its just had a decent service , gonna put std air box on this weekend.

it feels as though domething is restricting it, as though it wants to go faster but something is holding it back

what was serviced?

Check the plugs and leads are clean and dry....

whip the leads off... give them a clean with some WD40 or water dispersant.... shake them dry and refit.

minor service doesnt normally involve plugs.

Why did you buy the car running like this, or has it just happened?

Take a plug out..... it it looks fucked/dirty - swap them.

it runs ok, u wouldnt really notice it if you just took it a 5 min drive, now ive had it a few weeks ive realised that its not just the fact the 1.4 is slow, there is obv a problem now.

cause i had the GSi and it waas 125 ish bhp i just figured the 1.4 felt slow due to being slower than the GSi

does the management light stay on for 30 seconds or more?

if so do the paperclip test and see which sensor is playing up, likely to be either icv or vss

I have had this problem, my car does not run right if its not up to temp. IT idels badly wen it is, some times 800 soetimes more, sometime it revs by itself. I have had new EGR valve, ECU and not cured. Took it into garage yesterday and the computer said it was Idle air control problem! which did not help me that much as i think i could of worked it out. But i was told it could be, ICV, air leak, Throttleboddies not opening corectly or wiring. Is this right? i have jus bought sum throttle boddies and a ICV from the local salvage off a corsa sport same as mine with less miles. So hopefully it might be all good once there fitted, but knowing my luck it wont be
