I use a steering wheel to play it - pretty hard on keys / joy pad imo to control the slides.

not a pic of mine (but mine is this one)

Should be able to control drifts and slides a lot easier with wheel + pedals. I have set up my cars for drift before, but can't really remember off the top of my head. I just change some settings and then run it.

For example...

Towing out the front wheels will mean that it steers in a lot more, towing in the rear wheels will make it try to straighten up all the time when going sideways ... (this isn't actually as bad as it sounds, as it means you can push the car on the edge more and then it's easy to bring it back) - unlike for example towing out the rears = major oversteer and lose it straight away.

Of course deck it - make it solid on the rear. Play with tyre pressures, harder on rear, softer on front etc.

I somethings actually put some negative camber on the rears - though caster adjustments on the fronts will probably be of more benefit. Just have a fiddle - see what you like and feels comfortable.

For example I made a setup that to me felt like drifting was a piece of piss - gave Chris the setup and he hated it, felt it was too hard to get the back end out. Up to driving style at the end of the day.

I really should re-connect my wheel and start playing this again. Used to be awesome fun.

Nothing like the feeling of racing against other real people. It's got a great feeling (the way the cockpit bounces around and stuff) just feels very much like your in there doing it for real.

Just can get a bit frustrating sometimes people are doing laps 2 seconds quicker than you and you can't really figure out how? - usually its because you lift off where they keep it nailed, you brake early and too hard etc.

Thing I like about this game is even the FWD cars are realisticly difficult.

the car at the front of this pack is so much fun

I was racing a race the other day with just these. Too much power and it spins the wheels and understeers... no power and it understeers in a slow corner. Have to keep some power on.

Then through some fast esses, with a slight bump, it was like lift off back end comes round, or lift off and it continues going straight, keep some power on and you can direct the car while drifting sideways lol.

Just awesome when theres a pack of about 4 of you, all pushing pretty hard - all on the edge of binning it but somehow all keeping it on.

Just remember on something like AS national short? - it was this dodgy shicane and then a blast through 4th and into 5th gear up a rise and through a sweeping left right... but the car would be unstable, a slight lift to get the nose in, and then back on the power as you drift wide near the top end of 5th gear. Manage to get the grip and hurtle down towards hair pin at the end. hard braking and hopefully gain another place.
