yea, its good to have greys instead of blacks and crap colours Plasmas all the way, use a bit more power and a lot heavier, but picture quality is a lot better than any LCD, plus you can get bigger screen sizes that are pretty cheap - ie: 800 quid can get you a fairly decent 42" panasonic plasma!!

LCDs though can be seen in direct sunlight pretty well - whereas plasma screens suffer quite a bit and optimal viewing for plasmas are lower light levels - though they still cope pretty well during the daytime with light in the room etc

as for HD, all it mean is that it has a digital input (DVI or HDMI) and the resoloution is 1024 x 768 or higher, something which most modern screens are!

Though you budget will depend on what best suits you and whether HD is a must have (as i cant see it rolling out properly for atleast another year or so - as only a few slected movie channels and sport channels will be HiDef)#

Anyways, keep an eye out on richersounds and ebay, and buy a few weeks worth of decent mags like what cinema etc Also, sign up to a few forums (like AVS and Av Forum) and read reviews and reviews and see if you can look at the screen your getting.

Also, stay AWAY from dixions and the likes as they know squat all about TVs nor how to demo one (ie: 5 screens running of one source )

I have to disagree dom , my mates LCD does blacks fine and the colours are so sharp , better than the plasma's we have at work by far.

My PC LCD screen also has no problems with blacks?

Get a decent 32 or 37 inch HD LCD & spend some good money on top line cables & connections.

Dont forget the mount will set you back about 150 aswell!!

Thats what I would do....infact, thats exactly what I did!!

Ive decided im going for a HD LCD 32" tv, going to order it next week.

I read that for a plasma to be true HD, it needs to be over 50" - i cant afford a 50" tv and it will look so stupid in my room

Seem a nice samsung one for around £820 so going to get that

not all plasmas last 60,000 hours, the average is about 30,000 hours and they will lose there brightness/colour as the hours clock up.
