What do you mean by a cylinder gone? Signs if there could be scoring or damage to the cylinder itself, or you mean one cylinder not firing/running correctly?

If it's a 12 volt then chances are it's already running on 3 cylinders.

with the engine running, pull one spark lead out at a time, if the engine sounds worst, plug the lead back in and try another. If you pull a lead out and the engine doesnt run any worst, then work for there.
