IF i remember right, 12v clocks wont work properly, RPM will overread. BUT your in luck, provided you have rev counter clocks, i have a set in the garage (4cylinder engine ones) which have no plastic front cover (but you could swap your one onto it)

You need some mechanical clocks, or the old style electronic clocks. The new style clocks will not work with the older style gearboxes as they read the speed in a different way.

Basically, what you want to do is get a set of cable operated clocks.

Also, the rev counter off of a 1.0 engine'd car won't work properly.

you can use a digidash transducer, which has a gear similar to a speedo cable, but then a box on the top which translates the rotations into a speed

Oh hang on, you could use Tigra dials which take a reading from an ABS sensor if you wanted to.
