got a new HD today,, 3rd one so using same cable from 1st dvd drive i hardly use, comes up on bios but not in my computer screen? also 2nd dvd drive doesnt show no more.
what could it be???
3rd HD comes up in bios as secondary slave,

What you mean it doesn't come on 'computer screen'
u mean in windows? and what have you got connected to each IDE

before was 2 hardrives 180 primary 200 slave then 2 dvd drives 1 dvd rom 2nd dvd writer, dvd1 never worked so disconnected it and used them cables for new hardrive,
they both dont come up on "my computer" desktop etc

You'll need to format the new one before it shows up.
Right click My Computer, goto Manage, it's in there somewhere.
Have you correctly set the new HD to Master/Slave as appropriate?

dunno where to do it in Manage.
been playin with the jumper settings til it came up on bios. didnt understand all the 15 pin 16pin 32mb etc so many options on this one,
cud it also be my motherboard doesnt recognise 250gb hds?
