a while ago i some how managed to blow up my 3d card (nvidia geforce 6800 GT)
only lately, i've got my arse in gear and bought another card. Not as good (nvidia geforce 6800 XT). reason why i didn't get the gt again was that it was £200 still, and the xt was £120 with simular spec.
the new card turned up today and i've tryed every fucking driver nvidia has to offer and it keeps crashing my computer i just typed out a essay for ebay, to put my car up for listings and the computer has crashed. i'm typing this quickly before it crashes again. now i've gotta send the fucking thing back and find something else. concidering i've just waited a week for this card to turn up
rant over

Is this just a rant or are you looking for alternatives/advise?
I've got 2x 6600GTs running in SLi mode. Highly recommended, if your motherboard supports it...

must be a reason why you have blown up thee network cards maet?
Have you considered the power inside your house? Maybe you need something like a UPS to filter and protect your computer?
Maybe its a dodgy connection in your case, or the PSU isnt up to spec to power all your goodies?
I'd start by googling the graphics card with your mobo, see if there is compat issues (might help telling us what your spec is here)?
Or maybe go to the manfuc for your mobo and download all the latest chipset drivers, may fix some compat issue you are experiecing.
Also look into heat, is your box running too hot?

just thinknig... if the box crashes after a certain amount of time and needs to be reset, could possibly be heat! Does the same thing happen if you just power up your box and leave it idling?

its either lack of power or heat, unless the card is faulty. Keep the sides off and under the nvidia properties there is a temperature monitor, keep an eye on it - generally graphics card can be anything up to 60c idle and 70-110 whilst playing games.
See if you can lay your hands on another psu, something a lot better than what you have and see if that helps as lack of power can cause crashes.
Otherwise send it back, get a replacment and see if that does it - if so then you know its to do with your pc

Mine (256MB factory-overclocked (400/1100) nVidia 6800GT) isn't even hitting 55C while under full-load, even in this heat.......where did you get those temps from?

My 6600gt was up at 100 easily under load before I watercooled it.
Perfectly safe.
I think the safety cut out was 140 degrees or something.

Mad, the 6600GT must run considerably higher temps than the 6800GT, then......mine idles at 40 or thereabouts, when it's not so bloody hot outside.

Avoid ATI, they're rubbish (in my opinion, of course)!

ATi cards, are just as good as Nvidia cards
Only thing which is an issue on the ATi front, is the shoddy drivers, as they are what causes most of the stability issues, not the card itself...
Altho they are getting better with the drivers on more recent releases...
