well that pic is the thermostat
and requires quite a bit of dismanatling to change it
if you do get
timing belt kit
drive belt
water pump and new thermostat and gaskets
might aswell do the whole lot in 1 go
takes a bit of time if you havent done it before

i managed mine on my nova with a bit of patience, just removed the cambelt cover and worked round the pulley.
unless theres not much room on that engine but its not a million miles away from the novas engine looks wise

when you say its bubbling, is it from that pipe/housing or near the bottom of the cylinder head bcoz the head gasket could be gone..

yes
you need to remove the rear timing belt cover to reliably gain access to the thermostat, which in turn does mean changing the timing belt.
not a hard job tho

it is possible to do these without removing the cam belt, done 2
cowboy style
will say that the bolts are prone to welding themselves into the head and this can be a complete arse to fix !

Trying to decide now if its worth changing or not?
So its either work around it or replace the belt etc
Not sure about when it was last done so it might be a good idea to do it!

If I had just one spare hour I'd do it....
having a whole week off is just making me lazy
Final question - Do I need to lockt the engine off whilst doing the belts?

you can get a cam locking kit, tbh tho i've done belts on 8v's by locking it with a jammed-in screwdriver or allen key, but you might not like the idea of that!
all you need to make sure is the timing marks lign up when the belt goes back on, just use some tipex to add some marks to the bottom pully & top pulley for re-fitting the belt.

Right been out & bought:
Water pump
Thermostat (which came with about 5 or 6 gasket things )
Timing belt
Fan belt
Coolant
Just dropping the oil on the car whilst it cools down, may as well give it a wee oil change whilst Im at it
So, someone correct me if I go wrong here
Top timing belt cover off
Line up engine
Lever on fan belt pulley, remove fan belt
Do I have to remove the bottom pulley? The big one?
