when i take my gearbox off my x16xel what is there to look for to identify if the clutch is knackered or on its way

please post pictures of knackered clutches and explain Ta

or try and set off in 4th (obviously gotta give some rev's) Stalls - its alrite .. slips (on its way out)

bugger me i set off in 1st and it rides up to 2000 rpm before the car starts to move

Doesn't really mean your clutch is on going tho.

Try just lettin you car sit idling for a minute then put it in reverse. If you get a mega crunch then that could be a sign.

Clutch wont bite until right at the top of the pedal quite often

yeah when i put the car into any gear and my foot is fully off the clutch i accelerate and the revs go up alot faster than the car accelerates

lol, is easier to take it to your local garage and ask them.

They'll most likely be able to give you and indication by giving it a quick drive and probably not cost you a thing.

put it in 5th on a motorway and accelerate hard, if the engine revs go up but the speed doesnt then ya clutch is fooked

Or you drive a 1.2 8v.
